1. Keep your resume up to date.
Always keep your resume up to date with the latest developments in your career. If you are currently jobless, try to find freelance work so that there won’t be too big a gap in your employment history.
2. Have samples of your work.
If you are a writer or graphic artist, for example, try to have a portfolio you can send to employers.
3. Don’t be afraid to follow-up.
Many employers appreciate applicants who follow up, which shows that they are genuinely interested in the job.
4. Spread yourself out.
But not too thinly. Try to find the best job application websites and post your resume there. You can also try professional networking sites like LinkedIn to establish a professional network.
5. Be on time.
When called to an interview, it’s best that you’re at least 10-15 minutes early. Early birds give good impressions.
